Which is what I use when I print text documents, but this is my file of mostly downloaded pics for my fb page I don't know why it was all OK before now I hate computers.
You are SO SO lucky if you understand them! On Windows 7, if I right-click an image, there is an item called "Open With", and if I click that, the last option is "Choose default program" which allows me to associate the file type with a different program. I did that and it asked me "How do you want to open this file? I assume NOT!!
Can you attach a screenshot that shows the folder content in Details mode View menu , so we can check the file name and file extension? It is possible that security software anti-virus, firewall is causing the problem.
Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference. Try to rename or remove the mimeTypes. On Windows 7, the default application is called Preview. I don't know the best choice for Windows 8. Iphoto picked it up no problem but aperture choked.
I ding that funny since Aperture is the king of photo apps for the MAC but built on the same architecture so if Iphoto could pick it up then Aperture should have as well. It wont open the file either. Some unsupported formats will cause Aperture to display an "Unsupported Format" message where the image would normally appear.
Some other unsupported formats will display, but may appear incorrectly and cause undesired behaviors. To get back an image that is in Multichannel mode, you can reopen it in Photoshop, change the mode back to RGB, then quit and relaunch Aperture. This sequence of events may affect the image quality, so if your changes in Photoshop were minor, you might be better off starting over with a new version. Any other reasons why that message would appear where the image is supposed to be?
