Windows 10 download folder grouped by date

When grouped by date, all the files and folders are separated into user-friendly dates. For example, if you downloaded a file today, it will be grouped under the Today section. Files downloaded last week will be grouped under Last Week, and so on. Simply put, your most recent files will always appear on top. You can actually see it in action if you open the Downloads folder after installing or upgrading to Windows 10 v In theory, this makes it easy to find the recently downloaded files.

However, the Date Modified grouping makes the files appear more cluttered. Moreover, finding files can be a bit harder, at least for me, if they are not recently downloaded. Holly enchanted crap I never even considered you could do that. Thank you, now things look less cluttered without stamps. Its like the last place you would look to disable such a dreaded feature. I do this, but it never stays like that.

Awesome for finding that. For us, the view is saved permanently not changing to default, let us see if it comes back again so that we can apply the fix. Affected users can try the fix and let us know. This is certainly not a in any way more working fix than using the context menu.

Other apps that show the file explorer also show groups in the download folder. Thank you. Remember you should change the group sort only from the Explorer Ribbon not from right click options. Another useless change by the mentally challenged over at Microsoft. Why did they think disabling the option to change the grouping was a good idea? I just switched to Linux myself. Setting the Group By option of Downloads in File Explorer worked fine for me, however the Save As dialogue window keeps displaying the Downloads grouped by date.

Is there any registry edit that could stop this? Usual crap from redmond sorry to say that. They always think they know it better than the user.

Perhaps MS telemetry data picked up on that. Anyway, the Group By makes since for a lot of users. Or they can easily see the last item s deleted to recover them. If I want to se the latest deletes or downloads, i click on the modified column for sorting.
